So finally 10 months and an unfortunate car accident later, today we finally took out the remaining pieces in Melissa’s Microdermal leg project. Melissa has been my client for over 5 years now and went into the project with her eyes open knowing the exact risks and i’m glad to say we still have a strong piercer/client relationship.
There’s been some negativity on the internet regarding this project and all I’ll say is that it’s easy to take a photo out of context, without any of the real information and try to create drama using it. I’ve been checking up on Melissa and will continue to check on her as she heals up as the intention is to Tattoo a galaxy scene on her leg.
It’s good to remember that not everything you see on TV maybe exactly the way it is in real life and just because you don’t see a client getting a consultation or aftercare instructions, doesn’t mean they didn’t get it off camera. Just because you see a client walk into a shop on TV while I outstretch my hand and say “Hi i’m Chris” doesn’t mean I haven’t known them/being piercing them for half a decade just like Hugh Jackman doesn’t really go home at night and worry he’s going to accidentally stab something with his steel claw hands.
Negativity will always peek people’s attention but the positive is always more important. Melissa is fine and happy and made an informed choice about her own body that she says she’d repeat today given the chance.
I’m trying to move forward positively by using the increased popularity from the show to teach youngsters not to get pierced at home / by friends and the importance of being pierced in a licenced studio by a reputable piercer. All jewelry on the show was of implant grade, internally threaded and most was by popular manufacturers such as Anatometal, IS and BVLA. These are what I believe to be positive points to move forward with and expand on, not that a happy client of mine had a project removed 10 months later and is still happy with me, my work and the level of treatment and professional care she received.
Lets all move forward with positivity, even the artists that originally spawned the negative comments are amazing artists and i’m sure their actions were only fueled by their urge to elevate and protect their industry
So in conclusion… Mel’s great, everyone’s happy, lets get some beers and move on with our lives.
